Cookie Policy

Last updated: 7 June 2026

1. About This Policy

This Cookie Policy explains how Vortrix Labs Limited ("Vortrix Labs", "Vortrix", "we", "us" or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on the Vortrix Labs Platform, including Vortrix Education, Vortrix Business, our website, web application, mobile application and related services.

It should be read alongside our Privacy Notice, which explains how we collect, use, store and protect personal data.

This policy explains:

  • What cookies and similar technologies are.
  • Which cookies and local storage technologies we use.
  • Why we use them.
  • When and why we display a cookie consent banner.
  • How you can manage cookies through your browser settings.

2. What Are Cookies and Similar Technologies?

Cookies are small text files that websites place on your device, such as your computer, phone or tablet, when you visit them. They are widely used to make websites work, remember user preferences, support security, improve performance, and provide information to website owners.

Cookies can be:

  • First-party cookies: set by the website or platform you are visiting.
  • Third-party cookies: set by another domain or service.

Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, pixels, tags, scripts, device identifiers, software development kits, and other technologies that store information on, or access information from, your device.

In this policy, when we refer to cookies, we also refer to similar technologies where relevant.

3. Cookies We Use

We use strictly necessary first-party cookies, and — only with your consent — optional first-party analytics cookies (Matomo).

These cookies are necessary for account login, session security and platform protection. If they are blocked or deleted, some parts of the Platform may not work properly, and you may not be able to stay signed in or use secure account features.

These analytics cookies are only set if you accept optional analytics cookies, and only on our business pages.

4. Local Storage

In addition to cookies, we use your browser's local storage for a small amount of preference and interface data.

DataPurpose
Note tree expanded/collapsed stateRemembers which folders you have expanded in the notes sidebar so they stay open when you return.
User interface preferences, where applicableMay remember limited display or layout preferences so the Platform works more smoothly for you.

Local storage data stays on your device and is not used for advertising, tracking or cross-site profiling.

We do not use local storage to track you across other websites or apps.

5. What We Do Not Use

To be clear about what we do not do:

  • No third-party analytics cookies, such as Google Analytics, Mixpanel or Amplitude.
  • No advertising or retargeting cookies.
  • No social media tracking pixels or widgets.
  • No fingerprinting or device identification technologies.
  • No cross-site tracking of any kind.
  • No cookies or similar technologies for targeted advertising.
  • No cookies or similar technologies to share your personal details with advertisers.
  • No third-party cookies for newsletters or marketing communications.
  • No session recording or behavioural profiling technologies.

We use privacy-preserving Matomo analytics; by default it runs without cookies (cookieless mode). Optional first-party Matomo analytics cookies are only set with your explicit consent, and only on our business pages.

If you opt in to newsletters or marketing communications, this will be managed through your account, consent preferences, email provider or unsubscribe controls, not through advertising or tracking cookies.

6. Do We Need Your Consent?

Under the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, cookies and similar technologies generally require consent unless an exemption applies. One exemption applies where cookies or similar technologies are strictly necessary to provide a service requested by the user.

Our strictly necessary cookies do not require consent:

  • uma_access_token: required to keep you signed in and support secure account access.
  • uma_csrf_token: required to protect your account and the Platform from cross-site request forgery attacks.

We run privacy-preserving cookieless analytics by default. We display a cookie banner and ask for your consent before setting any optional analytics cookies, and you can change or withdraw your choice at any time via Cookie Settings.

If we introduce further non-essential cookies or similar technologies in the future, such as advertising, personalisation, retargeting, social media or marketing cookies, we will:

  • Update this Cookie Policy.
  • Explain what the new cookies or technologies do and why we use them.
  • Ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies, where consent is required.
  • Give you a way to manage or withdraw your consent.

7. Managing Cookies

You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. However, please be aware that if you block or delete our strictly necessary cookies, you may not be able to stay signed in to the Platform or use secure account features.

Most browsers allow you to:

  • See what cookies are stored and delete them individually.
  • Block cookies from specific websites or all websites.
  • Set preferences for first-party and third-party cookies.
  • Clear all cookies when you close the browser.

For instructions specific to your browser, visit your browser's help pages or aboutcookies.org.

You may also be able to clear local storage through your browser settings. Clearing local storage may reset some interface preferences, such as expanded or collapsed folders.

8. Children and Young People

Vortrix Labs may be used by young people aged 13 and over. We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting cookies, social media tracking pixels or cross-site tracking technologies for children or young people.

Where newsletters or marketing communications are sent to users under 18 years of age, they will be age-appropriate and will only be sent where the user has opted in, subject to the safeguards explained in our Privacy Notice.

9. Changes to This Policy

If we change the cookies or similar technologies we use, we will update this Cookie Policy and the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.

If we introduce any non-essential cookies or similar technologies, we will notify you and obtain your consent before setting them where required by law.

We may also update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in our Platform, Vortrix Education, Vortrix Business, our technical infrastructure, our Privacy Notice, applicable law, or regulatory guidance.
