This Cookie Policy explains how Vortrix Labs Limited ("Vortrix Labs", "Vortrix", "we", "us" or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on the Vortrix Labs Platform, including Vortrix Education, Vortrix Business, our website, web application, mobile application and related services.
It should be read alongside our Privacy Notice, which explains how we collect, use, store and protect personal data.
This policy explains:
Cookies are small text files that websites place on your device, such as your computer, phone or tablet, when you visit them. They are widely used to make websites work, remember user preferences, support security, improve performance, and provide information to website owners.
Cookies can be:
Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, pixels, tags, scripts, device identifiers, software development kits, and other technologies that store information on, or access information from, your device.
In this policy, when we refer to cookies, we also refer to similar technologies where relevant.
We use strictly necessary first-party cookies, and — only with your consent — optional first-party analytics cookies (Matomo).
| Cookie Name | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| uma_access_token | Authentication. Keeps you signed in by storing an encrypted session token. This cookie is httpOnly, meaning it cannot be read by JavaScript running on the page. This helps protect against cross-site scripting attacks. | 30 minutes | Strictly necessary, first-party |
| uma_csrf_token | Security. Helps protect against cross-site request forgery attacks by helping us verify that form submissions and API requests genuinely come from our website or platform, rather than a malicious third-party site. This cookie is readable by JavaScript because our front end needs to include its value in request headers for verification. | 24 hours | Strictly necessary, first-party |
These cookies are necessary for account login, session security and platform protection. If they are blocked or deleted, some parts of the Platform may not work properly, and you may not be able to stay signed in or use secure account features.
These analytics cookies are only set if you accept optional analytics cookies, and only on our business pages.
| Cookie Name | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| _pk_id | Matomo | Recognises returning visitors. | 13 months |
| _pk_ses | Matomo | Links actions within a visit. | 30 minutes |
| _pk_ref | Matomo | Stores how you arrived (referrer or campaign). | 6 months |
| _pk_testcookie | Matomo | Checks whether the browser supports cookies. | Transient |
| mtm_cookie_consent | Matomo | Records that you have accepted optional analytics cookies. | Configurable |
| mtm_consent_removed | Matomo | Records that you have withdrawn consent for optional analytics cookies. | Configurable |
| matomo_sessid | Matomo | CSRF protection for the analytics opt-out mechanism. | 14 days |
In addition to cookies, we use your browser's local storage for a small amount of preference and interface data.
| Data | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Note tree expanded/collapsed state | Remembers which folders you have expanded in the notes sidebar so they stay open when you return. |
| User interface preferences, where applicable | May remember limited display or layout preferences so the Platform works more smoothly for you. |
Local storage data stays on your device and is not used for advertising, tracking or cross-site profiling.
We do not use local storage to track you across other websites or apps.
To be clear about what we do not do:
We use privacy-preserving Matomo analytics; by default it runs without cookies (cookieless mode). Optional first-party Matomo analytics cookies are only set with your explicit consent, and only on our business pages.
If you opt in to newsletters or marketing communications, this will be managed through your account, consent preferences, email provider or unsubscribe controls, not through advertising or tracking cookies.
Under the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, cookies and similar technologies generally require consent unless an exemption applies. One exemption applies where cookies or similar technologies are strictly necessary to provide a service requested by the user.
Our strictly necessary cookies do not require consent:
We run privacy-preserving cookieless analytics by default. We display a cookie banner and ask for your consent before setting any optional analytics cookies, and you can change or withdraw your choice at any time via Cookie Settings.
If we introduce further non-essential cookies or similar technologies in the future, such as advertising, personalisation, retargeting, social media or marketing cookies, we will:
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. However, please be aware that if you block or delete our strictly necessary cookies, you may not be able to stay signed in to the Platform or use secure account features.
Most browsers allow you to:
For instructions specific to your browser, visit your browser's help pages or aboutcookies.org.
You may also be able to clear local storage through your browser settings. Clearing local storage may reset some interface preferences, such as expanded or collapsed folders.
Vortrix Labs may be used by young people aged 13 and over. We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting cookies, social media tracking pixels or cross-site tracking technologies for children or young people.
Where newsletters or marketing communications are sent to users under 18 years of age, they will be age-appropriate and will only be sent where the user has opted in, subject to the safeguards explained in our Privacy Notice.
If we change the cookies or similar technologies we use, we will update this Cookie Policy and the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
If we introduce any non-essential cookies or similar technologies, we will notify you and obtain your consent before setting them where required by law.
We may also update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in our Platform, Vortrix Education, Vortrix Business, our technical infrastructure, our Privacy Notice, applicable law, or regulatory guidance.
If you have questions about our use of cookies or similar technologies, please contact us at:
